Breathwork is a natural, simple and powerful tool that has the ability to transform your wellbeing.
Robert is a qualified breathwork coach, accredited by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB). He can work individually with clients as well as deliver breathwork coaching to groups.
Breathwork can calm and soothe, energise and invigorate and generally help maintain homeostasis within the body’s systems. There is a breath for every need and because it’s a system we can control it is a truly empowering and rewarding discipline.
Breathwork is the practice of being conscious of the way we are breathing, and sometimes breathing in a purposeful manner to create certain sensations in the body and mind. There are many schools and techniques in breathwork and depending on which pattern of breathing you follow they can have many different effects.
• Decreases anxiety and stress response
• Strengthens the lungs
• Breathing supports us to tolerate difficult feelings
• Increases energy levels
• It helps in the management of pain incl. chronic pain
• Helps us get in touch with our felt sense : interoception
• Stimulates the vagus nerve – social engagement system
• Improves digestion
• Improves sleep
• Helps to release trauma
• Increase in self awareness
Some will bring about a sense of calm and relaxation in the body, others will make you feel energised and focused. Some can cure headaches, hangovers and back pain, with a few simple breaths in and out.
Certain health conditions may prevent some people from undertaking breathwork practices. These conditions will be made clear upon enquiry.

After an introductory session you may feel you have a specific reason to develop your breathwork further, such as stress, anger, day-to-day challenges or perhaps recovery following trauma. Robert will work with you in these one hour sessions to improve your breathing, support you with new techniques and introduce you to some practical coping mechanisms.
Once you've experienced an introductory session you can sign up for ongoing one hour sessions bespoke to your needs for a period of your choosing. This programme can be discussed during your in-person introduction.
Please reach us at info@rphtherapies.com if you cannot find an answer to your question, fill in the enquiry form below or call 07362 779132 to discuss breathwork directly with Robert.
The session will begin with an introduction to the breath and benefits of breathing with control. After a relaxation exercise you will be taught three different breath techniques to help relax, balance and energise. We will end with a meditation and grounding.
You may be suffering from anger issues, work stress, the after-effects of a recent or past trauma, or a feeling of depression. A bespoke development programme will give you the opportunity to identify breathing techniques to help you through those challenges. Week by week you will be able to reflect on the techniques used, refine them and develop them further. You will be given worksheets to take away with you to help guide you in your own time.
Certain breath exercises can have an effect on both the mental and physical health of someone practicing them. At all times, if in doubt, you should seek advice from your GP, but generally if you suffer from the following conditions you may be unable to undertake some of the exercises: asthma, heart conditions, eye conditions, injuries to ribs, sternum, spine or breathing muscles and diabetes or uncontrolled thyroid conditions. Also if you have a diagnosis of an aneurysm in the brain or abdomen. Be aware too that mentally, breathwork can result in some emotional or profound feelings. Pregnant women may also be affected depending on which trimester.
